Our History

The Bar at 316

The Bar 316 is one of Charlotte’s longest standing Gay Bars and by popular opinion the best LGBTQ friendly spot in Charlotte. Whether you are coming to have a drink and relax or to dance the night away on our upstairs dance floor there is a place for you to relax and enjoy yourself at Bar 316. Housed in a Victorian-style mansion, this bar features a bar 2 floors, cozy fireplaces, an outside terrace, plus an outdoor patio in the summer months. The bar has been in the community for the last 30+ years. Well-known in the late 80s and 90s as Liason’s this old house has seen lots of fun memories and helped many friendships blossom. We can’t wait to welcome you to our home away from home. See you soon.

Meet The Owners

Jeff Edwards

Jeff Edwards has owned The Bar at 316 for the last 13 years. He started out in the food service industry at 16 and never looked back. From boyhood, his dream was always owning his own business.

You can still find him behind the bar several nights a week remembering your name and drink order even if it’s been a month since he’s seen you. Seeing his customers with a smile on their face is his passion.

Kolby Brinkley

Kolby Brinkley and Jeff have been partners for more than 10 years. Kolby helps out with everything around the bar from managing special projects, DJ-ing, and all things tech.

Kolby attended Johnson and Wales University and has a background in management and hospitality. Jeff and Kolby put their hearts into running The Bar at 316 and making it a great place for you to come and relax and let loose.
